Not Baby Yoda Coffee Cozy

NOT BABY YODA COFFEE COZY

*sl st & chain do not count as first sc

*do not turn

*USE H hook for main body, H hook for ears & G hook for eyes (if you crochet the eyes)

*worked in the round, do not turn. Mark your rounds (or count!)

*Gauge isn’t that important, if your’re worried about it fitting test your chain row on a mug!


Materials

-G & H hooks

-Small amounts of Green & brown yarn

-Large Eye needle for weaving in ends (or small hook) and making mouth

-Black buttons (optional) or black yarn


Abbreviations

-SC Single crochet

-HDC Half double crochet

-DC Double Crochet

-SL ST slip stitch

-JO join

-FO Fasten off (not to be confused with the other FO!)

-BLO Back Loop only

*written in American terminology


Main body

With green and H hook ch 30, join with sl st to first chain being careful not to twist

Row 1: ch 1, sc in each ch around (30). FO and join brown

Row 2: ch 1, sc in each sc (30). Join with sl st to first sc

*repeat row 2 for a total of 5 rows with brown, FO and join green

Row 7: sc in BLO around (30)

Row 8: repeat row 2 for a total of 5 green rows (4 more). FO and weave in ends.


EARS (make 2)

With green & H hook chain 10

3 DC in 4th chain from hook, DC in next 3 chains, HDC in next ch, sc in next ch, SL ST in last ch (point)

Turn to other side of chain

SL ST, SC in next chain, HDC in next chain, DC in next 3 chains, 3 DC in next chain & join with SL ST to top of chain 3. FO but leave long tail for sewing to main body


EYES (make 2)

With black and G hook make a magic circle, ch 1

SC 14 & join with SL ST to first sc. SC, HDC, 2 DC , HDC, SC, SL ST, SC, HDC, 2 DC, HDC, SC. SL ST. FO and leave tail for sewing on to main body

Sew ears to sides 2 rows down in green

Fold in half with ears on either side. Sew eyes to green one row down evenly spaced apart ( I “eye” balled it hahahahah).

Weave in ends

-I also used buttons for eyes and have mixed reactions. Some people liked them better both ways so it’s just a matter of personal preference for you.
